DNA HELPS FORT MYER'S POLICE SOLVE YEAR-OLD CRIME
Full Description:
DNA helped the Fort Myers Police Department solve a burglary case that is more than a year old when a Valero Gas station at 2549 S.R. 82 was burglarized back in July 3, 2005.
Officers collected blood evidence from the crime scene that was submitted to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and on November 9th, 2006 FDLE reported a DNA match to Guillermo Duran (d.o.b. 10-14-71, transient). On November 27th FMPD detectives located Duran at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Stockade and charged him with Burglary and Grand Theft.
Duran has been in custody since February 2006 for another burglary at a Hess Gas Station at 4087 Palm Beach Boulevard.
